I provide a safe and supportive environment for you to uncover and clear what’s blocking your inner joy. Together, we’ll explore what maybe keeping you stuck, interfering with fulfilling connections with others, and preventing you from finding or meeting your personal goals.Throughout the counseling process, I serve as guide and facilitator, employing compassion, honesty, and a genuine, deep connection with my clients. We will move at your pace and together decide where to go next in our work.
As a therapist, I work from a strength-based perspective and the natural resiliency of all of us to heal and thrive. I incorporate a variety of theoretical perspectives and practice modalities depending on the situation and the needs of my clients. Treatment modalities may include: EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting (BSP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Transpersonal Counseling. In addition, having practiced yoga and mindfulness for nearly 30 years, I often incorporate mindfulness and somatic-based strategies into my sessions.
I am originally from Miami and have lived in the Asheville area for 10 years. I have two adult children (David and Caylin). I love to travel and have been to over 20 countries, to hike in our beautiful mountains, to practice yoga, dance and spend time with family and friends. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of North Carolina (license # C010554) and have approximately 25 years of experience working with children and families. I received a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW), with a concentration in Clinical Social Work, from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2000, a graduate program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Previously, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Vanderbilt University (1985) and a Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law (1990).
I look forward to helping you on your journey.
